MCW Stocking History
The Muskellunge Club of Wisconsin’s historical stocking efforts go back many years and have occurred on several different lakes throughout Wisconsin. Our recorded muskie stocking data now documents all known stocking events MCW has been involved with back to 1987. Research involving a review of MCW annual reports back to 1971 revealed several stocking events we had not documented until now. Some of the data isn’t complete (a few missing stocking numbers and no financial information for those pre-2005 stocking events), but we do at least know when and where MCW stocking events occurred. Nearly all of the stocking events prior to 2004 occurred on 8 different lakes in northern Wisconsin. Be sure to let us know if you have any MCW muskie stocking information that is not recorded in our muskie stocking data table so your information can be entered.
MCW’s historical muskie stocking data research note: In early 2016, we had good data recorded for MCW muskie stocking efforts back to 2005. We also had copies of some stocking permits back to 1997. The State of Wisconsin requires a stocking permit each time our club stocks muskies so about that time – well before we discovered significant stocking data in our annual reports – we solicited the help of the Wisconsin DNR but they were unable to locate any of our club’s historical muskie stocking data in their separate database that contains private fish stocking information.
Since 2005, MCW has partnered with the Milwaukee Chapter of Muskies Inc (MCMI) several times to make a powerful impact by stocking more muskies than either club could do on their own. In addition, MCW has also combined efforts with John Laimon and the organizers of the 3 Charlies Muskie Tournament, Waukesha County, and Gollon Bait and Fish Farm to improve the fisheries where we have stocked muskies.
The following highlights all known muskie stocking events where MCW has been involved back to 1987. A MCW Stocking Statistics slick sheet is also available which summarizes these more recent and local muskie stocking events.
